Summary:

The beginning of both sides of this tape consists of a session of short conversations with a half dozen children in Jonestown – a woman asks them their names and what they like to do – but several of the children stand close enough to the microphone that their replies overwhelm the audio. The children say they like to play, sing and run.

The session on side 2 includes several children singing different songs.

The balance of the tape on each side consists of a recording of Don Quixote.

FBI Summary:

Date of transcription: 3/22/79

In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation into the assassination of U.S. Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording was located in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, and was turned over to U.S. Officials in Guyana and subsequently transported to the United States.

On March 3, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B47 #15. This tape was found to contain the following:

Recordings of interviews with children under the age of six. This tape also contained music from the movie/play “Don Quixote.”
