News flash: We now have confirmation of the Los Angeles meeting. See page 3 for particulars.

This summer the Temple youth and qualified adults will be taking an extended camping trip in our large commercial buses to provide a worthwhile outing for the youth.

As still another part of our Christian missionary outreach, the Temple pastor, choirs and many members will be conducting services in the Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, and even as far as Vancouver, B.C. We will keep you posted as to future dates and times so that you may contact all of your friends in that area and let them know of the inspirational healing and humanitarian service ministry of Pastor Jim Jones.

The Temple has recently purchased a beautiful college dormitory home to house half of the forty-five Temple college young men and women whom we subsidize as they further their education at Santa Rosa Junior College, Sonoma State College and associated nursing schools.

In addition to this we continue to provide an aged home, the fellowship house, manse and our youth center with its indoor heated swimming pool, an animal rescue shelter for homeless pets of all kinds; also, we have the great task of maintaining three large commercial air conditioned buses especially comfortable for trips for our senior citizen members and all our Temple people.

Recently Temple members were assisting around-the-clock in help and supervision of young persons coming off drugs. Over 100 of our Temple youth have been converted to a life of Christian service from the misery of a life in the drug world. Although none of the youth reared in the Temple family has ever turned to drug use, many young people coming into the Temple as teenagers or young adults came to us from the drug world and none who has become a part of the Temple family has ever returned to this kind of life. Most of these youth are in college in our church-sponsored dormitories or the others have very responsible jobs in the community.

If you would like to help in any of these worthy endeavors, please send your gift to P.O. Box 214, Redwood Valley, California. The financial need is critical at this time! You can also be a sponsor of a college student, helping him financially received his education and he or she will keep in close communication with you writing you of the activities he or she as a student is undertaking.

Boat cruise! Don’t miss our exciting boat cruise departing from Pier 43 ½ at Fisherman’s Wharf, August 7 at 4:00 PM. Our Temple Band will be on hand for entertainment as well as a full course banquet for all. Tickets may be obtained by calling Mrs. Bessie Johnson at 655-2586 or Mrs. Dorothy Harris at 344-2663.

Please send stamps: Due to our immense correspondence of over 2000 letters a week, we are in need of postal stamps, since every letter is answered. Please include postal stamps in your letters to the Temple or Pastor Jones.

To receive the newsletter: Only those who write us and keep in constant communication with us will receive this newsletter which will provide important protection in the stormy times ahead. If you have not received the newsletter and you want to receive it just write the Temple, P.O. Box 214, Redwood Valley and let us know. Even members of our own staff who have not written within the last three months will not be getting the newsletter this month. Please send financial assistance or some valid explanation as to why you can’t assist (i.e., if you have not sent an offering for the newsletter recently.)

Healing Ministry

We often receive questions related to our healing ministry. The ministry of Pastor Jones is in no way opposed to medical science. In fact, in over 82 documented cases through the direct encouragement of our Pastor, individuals who had previously refused to seek medical help, went to their own doctors and were saved from serious and fatal conditions in this way. (Cases such as those of Mr. Jim Pugh of Redwood Valley and Mrs. Edith Cordell showed the total remission of what had been diagnosed as cancer.) It is our belief as the scripture states “all good things come down from above.” Medical science and the special healing ministry we have witnessed time after time worked hand-in-hand for good.

In every service for over twenty years Peoples Temple members and visitors have witnessed scores of healing, special protections and special warnings which have saved lives in the most seemingly hopeless situations.

One of the most touching healings was that of Mrs. Rosa Ijames, Guest Home owner of Rt. 1, Box 223M, Redwood Valley, California. Mrs. Ijames had already had a stroke when she came in to Pastor Jones’ meeting. Jim Jones called her out by name giving precise details about events happening in her life. As he meditated for her, all symptoms of excruciating pain in her head disappeared and she was delivered from fatal hypertensive stroke through the miraculous power of God healing through Jim Jones.

The greatest miracles witnessed are often the healings of the mind as in the case of Mrs. Faith Kice of 610 Willow Ave., Ukiah, California. Psychiatrist, Dr. Shipley of the Child Guidance Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, pronounced her a hopeless schizophrenic and said it was useless to try to work with her. Through the meditation of Pastor Jones, Mrs. Kice is a happily married licensed nurse who is in every way whole of mind and body. She received excellent grades and studies in her field of nursing and is now a responsible and contributing member of society.

In still another case the mind was again restored from hopeless brain damage caused by extensive drug use. Larry Schactt [Schacht] of 1678 Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa, California was delivered from a totally meaningless life and his mind was made “every whit whole” following the meditations of Jim Jones. He is now a college student receiving honors in school and living in one of our church-sponsored dormitories.

We have seen children spared a fatal diseases in scores of the instances as is the case of Kathy Richardson. Pastor Jones called out her mother, Mrs. Virginia Richardson, of Box 950, Redwood Valley, California and told her of the lumps on her daughter’s chest which she and her daughter had told to no one. Pastor Jones said they would disappear at the end of two weeks and there would be no more sign of that dread disease of cancer. Just exactly as Pastor Jones had stated the lumps had totally vanished at the end of the two week period to the amazement and extreme gratitude of the entire family. This condition has never returned to the child from the date Jim Jones said it would be gone.

A most outstanding miracle occurred when Mrs. Rose Shelton, former instructor of cosmetology at the Regina beauty College in San Francisco, was called out by Pastor Jones and told to immediately stop work or she would have a stroke. She did not heed this warning and one week later as she was conducting her theory class, her right side became very, very weak and she could not use her right hand at all. The next morning her right side was totally paralyzed and she could not walk. However, the very next day Pastor Jones contacted her and meditated for her and all ability to use her right side was totally restored and she is perfectly healed to this day. She writes us that “I owe it all to the mighty power of God that works through this modern-day prophet Jim Jones.[“]

This outstanding gift of God healing in every service without fail and the special protection which has spared numerous lives from fatal accidents and illnesses of all types is so vast we could mention only a small number of them and have room in a newsletter for other activities. Lives have totally changed as they have become a part of this wonderful Christ-centered humanitarian work. Come and see for yourself!

“Message”

Now hear the words of Jesus “these things shall you do and greater because I go to the Father! It is written that ye are Gods and sons of the most high.” Another passage declares that “We are the Temples of the Living God, and as a man thinketh in his mind so is he.” Our might to give you a demonstration that took place in Rockefeller Institute where they conducted a series of tests with parasites found on plants which showed that even the lowest order of creatures had the power to call upon Universal Supply for the resources to meet any unusual need. In order to obtain the material, a pot of rose bushes were brought into a room and placed in front of a closed window. If the plants were allowed to dry out, the aphides [aphids] (parasites), previously wingless, changed to winged insects. After the metamorphosis, the animals leave the plants, fly to the window and then creep upward on the glass. The scientists concluded, it is evident that these tiny insects found that the plants on which they had been thriving were dead and that they could therefore secure nothing more to eat and drink from the source. The only method by which they could save themselves from starvation was to grow temporary wings and fly, which they did. In short, when the source of this primitive life form’s sustinence [sustenance] was shut off and they had to find the means of migrating or perish, Universal Mind furnished the means for migration. If this mind, which “I am” inculcating can thus provide for the meanest of its creatures, is it not logical to suppose that it will do more for us, the highest product of creation, if we but call upon it – if we will but have the faith of a grain of a mustard seed. Determining with Jesus as he said in Sonship Degree, though he was thought to be a servant, he considered it not robbery to be equal with God. In affirmation we have seen thousands healed every month and literally several restored to life, not to mention all the practical demonstrations for human service that have been brought about even on the day we decided and affirmed by Infinite Mind. We have declared we shall not wait for the imaginary and suppositional God in the heavens for the sky is nowhere and does nothing, but everywhere where there is nothing. We shall lift our minds from superstition and bring our conscious concepts concerning heaven into our recognition of something that is no longer superstitious, but as the revelations declared, we’ve heard a great voice, (a great revolutionary cry) out of the imaginary heaven, saying “behold the tabernacle or Temple of God is with men, and He will dwell with them and they shall be His people and God himself shall be with them and be their God.” And this God, Principle shall wipe away all tears from our eyes and there shall be no more death as a final consumate [consummate], neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things with this actual recognition of the continual presence of God will be passed away eternally!

Newsletter Writer’s Comment

Today one young man, Carl Barnett by name, who was in a local hospital from severe injuries received in an accident which cause neurological involvement and perspective brain damage; decided to affirm this principle “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” He did so by seeing Jim Jones as a Fundamental Principle bearer and as a result, he was immediately able to walk with restored health and full return of his vision!
