Letter to The Christian Century

Shortly before Christmas 1978 – a month after the deaths in Jonestown and following several weeks of preaching and writings about the lives of his two daughters and grandson in Jonestown – John Moore wrote a letter to James Wall, the editor of The Christian Century, a magazine of U.S. mainline Protestantism, in response to Wall’s invitation to submit an article to the biweekly publication. The letter represents an early post-tragedy attempt to place the Temple in the context of the political and social movements of the 1960s.
