SUBJECT: MEMBERS OF PEOPLES’ TEMPLE IN PORT OF SPAIN.
REFERENCE: (A) PORT OF SPAIN 3343; (B) STATE 295989
1. Members of Peoples’ Temple did not rpt not return to embassy today, and we are attempting to determine if they are still in Trinidad.
2. Because of late arrival of Reftel B, we had to contact MEA official at home asking that request for approval of FBI visit be brought to FM Donaldson’s attention first thing in morning. There is good possibility that Donaldson will elect to take this request to cabinet which does not meet until Firday [Friday] morning.
