SUBJECT: ASSASSINATION THREAT AGAINST PRESIDENT/VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
Reference is made to Georgetown 4458 dated 12/27/78.
This service would like to reiterate its request to interview those Peoples Temple members who have been charged by the Guyanese, upon completion of their judicial proceedings. This would currently include Steven [Stephan] Jones, who has been charged since our initial request was made.
Embassy is requested to insure that the Secret Service is notified immediately in the unlikely event that any of those charged is released. Due to the fact that Secret Service personnel have not been allowed to interview any of the survivors in Georgetown to determine their degree of danger to our protectees, it is imperative that we be notified prior to the return to the U.S., which was not the case with Michael Prokes.
