FBIHQ is requested to forward this to Legat, Caracas, at Georgetown, Guyana.

On Saturday, November 18, 1978, Clifford Allen Gieg and Herbert Newell were told to take the PT boat Cudjoe downriver to Kammaka (phonetic) [Kamaka] to check on some wood. At our meeting with Skip Roberts in Washington, DC, he indicated the People’s Temple had wood on order which was in the process of being shipped. The Guyanese authorities confiscated the wood.

San Francisco has a map of Guyana but cannot locate Kammaka or anything that appears near the pronunciation on the map.

PAGE TWO SF 89-250 UNCLAS EFTO

Legat is requested to determine 1. If the wood on order was en route to Kammaka, or if not, where. 2. If there is such a place as Kammaka. 3. If a more detailed map of Guyana exists, noting that which is in San Francisco’s possession was prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture revised in 1976. If a newer map exists, Legat is requested to forward it to San Francisco.

Legat is also requested to forward as soon as possible that information Roberts offered, i.e., interviews of the Carters and Prokes and advise the results of efforts to locate ham radio operator [name deleted].
