News reports in San Francisco indicate the charges against Larry Layton by GOG [Government of Guyana] have been dismissed and possibility exists that he may not be charged for any crimes by GOG.
AUSA [Assistant US Attorney], San Francisco, advised legal status of Layton is of paramount interest to his office and the FGJ [Federal Grand Jury], San Francisco, and that every effort should be made to ensure prompt notification to FBI, San Francisco of current and future status and intentions of prosecution by GOG.
Legat at US Embassy Georgetown is requested to obtain current status of Layton and intentions of prosecution by GOG and expedite same to San Francisco.
