SUBJECT: Visit of Rebecca E. Moore

1. The central organization of the Methodist Church in Washington telephoned ARA/CAR May 7 to advise that Rebecca E. Moore and a friend, Fielding McGehee, both of whom are residents of Washington, will visit Guyana in May for about two weeks to look into the Jonestown tragedy. They have made their own arrangements and have not requested assistance of the embassy, but they will visit the embassy to discuss the Jonestown tragedy, asked that the embassy be alerted to their coming, and hope that embassy information on the Jonestown tragedy can be made available to them.

2. Rebecca E. Moore had two sisters who died in the Jonestown tragedy: Ann Moore and Carolyn Moore Layton, who was divorced from Larry Layton. Department understands Moore and McGehee plan to visit Matthews Ridge.
