Murder, contrary to Section 100 of the Criminal Law (Offenses) Act, Chapter 8:01. Particulars of offense. Larry Layton, on the 18th day of November, 1978, in the County of Essequibo, murdered Leo Ryan. Punishment – death. End text.

Presentment of the Director of Public Prosecutions for Guyana. Larry Layton is charged with the following offenses: A. First Count. Statement of offense. Attempt to commit murder, contrary to Section 103 (G) of the Criminal Law (Offenses) Act, Chapter 8:01. Particulars of offense. Larry Layton, on the 18th day of November, 1978, in the County of Essequibo, discharged a loaded firearm at Monica Bagby with intent to murder her. (Maximum punishment – life imprisonment.)

Second count. Statement of offense. Attempt to commit murder, contrary to Section 103 (G) of the Criminal Law (Offenses) Act, Chapter 8:01. Particulars of offense. Larry Layton, on the 18th day of November, 1978, in the County aforesaid, wounded Monica Bagby with intent to murder her. C. Third Count. Statement of offense. Larry Layton, on the 18th day of November, 1978, in the County aforesaid, discharged a loaded firearm at Dale Parks with intent to murder him. E. Fifth count. Statement of offense. Unlawful possession of firearms, contrary to Section 23 (1) of the National Security (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, Chapter 16:02. Particulars of offense. Larry Layton, on the 18th day of November, 1978, in the County aforesaid, without lawful authority, had in his possession a firearm, that is to say, a revolver. (Maximum punishment – imprisonment 10 years & a whipping or flogging) F. Sixth count. Statement of offense.
