1. Following is text of cable received by this office 3/24 from Director FBI: Begin text. By teletype dated March 21, 1980, FBI, San Francisco furnished the following information: SA Daniel J. Buckley, FBI San Francisco, will accompany witnesses [Odell Rhodes] and Vern Gosney, Georgetown, Guyana, arriving at 10:55 PM on April 1, 1980, via Pan Am, flight 427. SA Buckley is familiar with all facets of investigation and will accompany as contact for witnesses and will be available to offer assistance to liaison with Guyana police. American Embassy is requested to secure police protection and transportation for witnesses as provided on previous visit. Witnesses specifically requested single, adjoining rooms at the Pegasus Hotel. Embassy also requested to assist SA Buckley on arrival, accommodations, and transportation. End text.
