Telephonic contact with American Embassy, Georgetown, has confirmed that Larry Layton was acquitted on charges of two counts of attempted murder and two counts of discharging a firearm with the intent to commit murder.
Layton is still being held on Guyanese indictment for the murder of Congressman Ryan and four other individuals at the Port Kaituma airstrip, Guyana, S. A.
USA [United States Attorney] G. William Hunter is an telephonic contact with Roger Cubbage, Criminal Division, US Department of Justice (DOJ) and is currently discussing what action DOJ desires at this time. Bureau will be Advised of developments.
