US Attorney William Hunter, San Francisco, made available certified copy of true bill indictment of Laurence John Layton, a.k.a. Larry Layton. Indictment charges Layton with violation of Title 18, USC, Section 351 (D) – Conspiracy to Murder; Section 351 (A), 2 – Aid and Abet Murder of Congressman; Section 1117 – Conspiracy to Murder an Internationally Protected Person; and Section 1116 (a), 2 – Aid and Abet Attempted Murder of an Internationally Protected Person.

Sealed indictment was returned by federal grand jury on October 9, 1980 and filed in US District Court, San Francisco, on October 10, 1980. On October 10, 1980, US District Court Judge Samuel Conti, San Francisco, signed an order unsealing instant indictment.

No bail warrant was issued for Layton and in possession of US Marshall, San Francisco.
