For information of Bureau, United States Attorney’s office concluded testimony in government’s case this date. Former Chief Assistant United States Attorney currently appointed chief Strike Force Office, San Francisco, California, Sandy Svetkoff, presented arguments to judge for reconsideration of denials of government evidence previously submitted. Judge denied government appeal and sustained defense motion to suppress evidence. Evidence referred to was felt critical to government’s case including (1) “last hour tape”; (2) a tape recording made by Jim Jones one day prior to Ryan’s visit in which Jones states, “I want to shoot someone in the ass like him (Ryan) so bad, so long, I’m not passing this opportunity up”. recording made by Jim Jones Saturday prior to Ryan’s visit, in which Jones states, “if Ryan enters this community illegally he will not leave alive”.

After judge’s ruling not to allow the above items of evidence, government rested its case.

Defense attorney has advised the defense case will last approximately four weeks and will include up to 48 witnesses.

San Francisco will keep the Bureau advised.
