Subject: FOIPA CUSTODY OF AUDIOTAPES FROM PEOPLES TEMPLE, JONESTOWN, GUYANA
PURPOSE: To advise that all protection copies of tapes made in connection with Peoples Temple, Jonestown, Guyana, have been turned over to the custody of the FOIPA Section, Records Management Division except for 22 tapes which have been designated as exempt from disclosure.
DETAILS: On 11/24/81, 1026 audio tape recordings which have been maintained by the Signal Analysis Unit, TSD, as protection copies in the case entitled “RYMUR,” Bureau File 89-4286, were turned over to the FOIPA Section, Records Management Division. Custody of these tapes has been transferred to enable the FOIPA Section to process numerous FOIA requests which have been received in conjunction with Peoples Temple, Jonestown, Guyana. Twenty-two tapes which have been designated as presently exempt from disclosure will be retained by the Signal Analysis Unit, TSD.
