RYMUR, MAJOR CASE 16

For information of receiving offices, on August 30, 1984, trial judge in Larry Layton matter has denied government’s motion for reconsideration of admissibility of government evidence (last hour tape). On same date, government filed an appeal before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and trial date is accordingly vacated and postponed indefinitely.

Assuming Court of Appeals expedites government’s motion, earliest possible trial date would not commence before Spring, 1985.

San Juan, through American Embassy, Georgetown is requested to advise the Government of Guyana of recent developments.

The Bureau is requested to relay above to the United States
