Dear Rev. Jones:

I am in receipt of your letter dated August 27, 1971, written in behalf of the congregation of the People’s Temple Christian Church, expressing deep concern over the senseless crimes committed against those in law enforcement and enclosing two checks for the families of the men recently killed in the line of duty.

Your check in the amount of $50.00 for the family of our late Police Officer Arthur O’Guinn will be forwarded to Mrs. O’ Guinn as you request, and your check in the amount of $150.00 for the families of the guards who lost their lives at San Quentin will be forwarded to Warden Louis S. Nelson of the prison for disbursement.

I wish to thank you and the members of your congregation for your concern and kind remembrances in tribute to these fine law enforcement officers.

Sincerely,
[signature]
Alfred J. Nelder
