SUBJ: PEOPLES TEMPLE CHECKS
REF: LETTERS OF APRIL 21, 1980 AND APRIL 23, 1980 FROM PEOPLE’S TEMPLE RECEIVER ROBERT H. FABIAN
1. People’s Temple Receiver Robert H. Fabian has requested that the dept locate two checks made payable to Phyllis Houston, one of the Jonestown deceased.
2. The two checks, which were issued on or about October 9, 1978, aggregated $36,372.91. There were issued by the San Rafael office of the Title Insurance and Trust Company. They were the proceeds of a piece of real estate. The Embassy is requested to locate these checks and send them (the originals) to the dept ASAP.
3. In compliance with Mr. Fabian’s second request, the Embassy is requested to contact the representative of the

Peoples Temple receiver, (Robert H. Fabian) in Guyana, Lionel Luckloo [Luckhoo], Esquire, for consultation regarding the expeditious transfer to him of crates consigned to individual Peoples Temple members or to the Peoples Agricultural Mission. If this entails the removal of consular seal this should be accomplished.
4. If the Embassy is unable to locate the checks or has no information regarding them, please notify the dept of this fact ASAP. Please also inform the dept regarding action taken on the crates once action is taken.
