Dear Cde. Kennard,
The Peoples Temple Agricultural Project in the North West District has been trying to obtain enough shell to help fertilize the land under cultivation in cooperation with the government FCH program. Until today I thought that there would be no problem with this and had arranged for a vote to ship 500 tons of shell to Northwest for this purpose. I applied for a permit and also thought that would not be a problem and then found out today that no permits are being given due to a regulation concerning the extinction of turtles.
If there is anyway that you could further explain to as the situation or assist us in obtaining the permit [we] need to load the sea shells. The people who are shipping the shells have informed me that they will only be able to hold the boat for two days further before they go on to other assignments. As I am sure you are well aware – the soil type in the northwest district is in desperate need of the lime available in this type of sea shell in order to produce any sizable amount of a harvest.
Please do let us know if there is any possible way of obtaining this permit as we have held our food production figures for the community on be basis of a treated soil? Thank you for your assistance.
Cooperatively yours
Paula Adams
