Questions to Kay Nelson, Venetia [Vernetta] Christian, Gene [Chaikin]

1. I talked to a man named Kim at the Xerox company around the corner from the Demco and he has tropical fish tanks set up but no fish. I told him that I was in the business of selling tropical and he lite up and took me in his office and he told me that he wanted know what kind of fish that I had and he would buy them from me. He said that he wanted to buy them from me first and then would give the names of the distributors who will buy fish by the 1000’s. If and when the next boat or plane comes in could somebody bring some samples Gene Chaikin knows where the fish are. (Large, plastic bags are already in the supply house the ones that Ron Talley uses). Also a man named Johnny Barrow who is a technician at GBS radio station asked me if I was dealing with the aquarium fishes. I told him yes and that we can catch the fish right on our property. He told me that the government (or whoever is responsible for the business of the fish[]) used to import tropical fish into the country!!! I asked him again and he repeated imported because there is no one that has a breeding system set up to keep the fish from going extinct. So as soon as Gene Chaiken or whoever can go out and catch some more of those fish. Or maybe if Charlie Chan can be contacted to catch some then I am positive that I can get money from the fish that we bring in.

Papers. He has a limousine service in San Francisco (he shofered people around town in Rolls Royces) but he was eventually put out of business because he would not buy tickets for the Policemen’s Ball and they started attacking on a small scale and then even up to corruption at the very Bryant Street Police Department. We talked about Black leaders that were and are now being eliminated by the police or the system, he also told us about the deterioration of the U.S. and how it is a nice place to live for a short while. He told us that he is a heir to a lot of land off of the coast and it is very good cattle land and can be used for planting. He is interested in giving it to a group that will farm the land and help Guyana. He says that he doesn’t want to sell it because he feels that what I do with the money but spend it. He said that he can’t understand why any Guyanese would want to go to America because many of the doctors that left Guyana because of the referendum are having to take mediocre jobs to survive. He and the doctor were very positive about the way the Prime Minister is running the country. Dr. Mingo (minister) this was my first time meeting him and he seemed very friendly the questions that we asked him were as follows:

  1. Devaluation of the Guyanese dollar? He was confident that the Guyanese dollar is in no danger of being devalued.
  2. Plywood factory for Guyana he agreed with Adrian Thompson that it would be silly and we would have to put out so much capital in order to try and make some returns. And also the biggest companies could very well drop there prices and freeze out the company
  3. We can afford GDF flights? He said that he would talk to the commander of the GDP to get us free flights.
  4. Tim Jones gun permit needs to be completed because they didn’t know if it was a rifle or a manned gun? He said that he would check into that again.
  5. Thought it might be difficult, but he would con lt again about our radio license.
  6. Larry’s licence he will discuss it with Dr. Green when he returns from out of the country but he is sure that it can be done he has real the proposal
  7. Dr. Reid would see what he can do in regards to JJ’s health in securing medical services for him in an emergency.
  8. Students from Port Kaituma going to our school? He said to simply contact the Ministry of Education and tell them that we cannot accommodate the’ students and every thing would be alright.
  9. Royale (Guyanese boy from Port Katiuma) we explained the case to him and he expressed some concern. A MD told us that there is a ship that goes abroad and will accomodate medical persons that have to be shipped for surgery (of any kind) to the United States.

******************************************************************************

Tim O’Ferra of the Russian Embassy told us that there is surgery available for people that need it. But he would have there doctor look at Royale when he came back from Moscow. He also asked us if we checked with Venezuela? He asked how Comrade Jim Jones was doing? And he said that some the hte rich people come to the Soviet Union to get medical treatment.

PNC/referendum celebration held at PNC headquarter on Garrett Street

Comrade George Williams (head of Campville PNC) was pleased that we came and thanked us for our support.

Comrade Oscar Duke was very glad to see me he kept coming around to me asking if I was alright? Even before he got drunk

Comrade Cunmuia was very glad that two of our sisters (Ellie & Shawnterrs) helped to check the names at the door and giving out refreshment tickets. He kept on saying that he was pleased that we came and also how the girls worked earlier in the day.

Other people that we meet at the function:

Robert Williams regional director for the PNC was very pleased that we came but when we asked if he could come over for dinner he said that he didn’t know at the moment.

Leslie Douldrige (when we walked up to him he eyed me up and down and he was completely covered with necklaces and rings. He appeared very much to be a homosexual.) He works for the Guyana Rice Board on Water Street. I asked him if the Rice Board sold brown rice. And he told me that they usually polish all the rice but for a group such as ours there would be some kind of special consideration. He then began to tell me that the white rice is more full of nutrients according to three analysts.

Robert Corlin who works as the head of the state under Dr. Reid talked to Sharon and myself and I invited him over to the house this week and he committed himself to Thursday night.

Neville Taylor: a young man in his teens dancing with Ellie and I talked to him and he is one of the body guards for Prime Minister Burnham and his friend was also a body guard for the Prime Minister they were openly bragging about being body guard to Ellie and Shawnterri) He and his friend want to come to Jonestown. Everybody I met even that didn’t have a important job said that what a good work that we were doing in the Northwest District.

Dr. Bolvanleigh and his cousin Hilbert: was a East Indian and very golly he came into the house with a smile, he didn’t appear to be anti government in fact he was very positive even though he has to work extra hours because many doctors are going back to the state because they don’t like the referendum. He wants to come to the project but he works everyday in his office, but he is going to try and make time some week end in the very near future.

Cousin Hilbert: who just came back from San Francisco told his cousin that he wanted to come and meet us because he didn’t think that any group could be as bad as they were portrayed in the news
