Undated Test Answers from Debby Jensen

Debby Jensen – Political Enlightenment teacher – Test

Afghanistan was liberated after a 24 hour revolution. This was triggered off when the leader of the Communist Party and his son were assasinated. The Socialist and Communist Parties joined along with the Air Force and overthrew the government. Afghanistan was declared a Socialist nation and two hours after the revolution, she announced her allegience to the Warsaw Pact. Iran is upset, because she is now surrounded by Socialist countries. Many Iranians escaped to Afghanistan when they heard about the Revolution. They are being equipped for guerilla warfare. Iran is one of the most fascist countries in the world, headed by one of the most evil men around, the Shah of Iran. It will be a pleasure to see Iran liberated. China is also unhappy with the liberation of Afghanistan. She is not a member of the Warsaw Pact, which is a [crossed out: “defense pact made”] mutual defense pact made up of Socialist countries (except China). China, who thinks she is the vanguard of [crossed out: “Socialism”] the 3rd world, is actually extremely nationalistic. Socialism exists within China but her foreign policy stinks. For example, when the Marxist-Feminist Party in Angola, the MPLA (Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola) was fighting to free Angola, China was on the side of UNITA which was not Socialist but financed by Capitalists. Actually, the Soviet Union is the real vanguard of 3rd world liberation. Their purpose is to promote liberation to third world countries, and they have proven their dedication to this. They have helped Vietnam in their struggle against the United States. They have helped Angola, Mozambique, Cuba, Ethiopia, and the Red Brigade in Italy. What I am explaining is the 3rd world doctrine, which China developed. China says there are three worlds. The first is the United States and Soviet Union. The second world is the European capitalist powers. The third world is China and other third world countries, China believing she is the vanguard of 3rd world liberation. China says that the Soviet Union are expansionists, when actually the Soviets give aid to other struggling nations but do not take them over. China also says the Soviets are a weak nation that use the threat of war. China wants a war between the United States and Soviet Union, because she knows she will come out of a war and then be able to take over the world. China feels the real threat to the world is the Soviet Union and

not the United States. The Soviet Union is the mother of Socialism. Vladimir Lenin, the leader of the October Revolution in 1917 put Marxism into practice. In 60 years, the Soviet Union has come from a feudalistic illiterate backward nation to the highest industrialized nation in the world. There is no unemployment. All people are guaranteed medical care, an education, and all needs are met. Education is a high priority. Reading is widespread and television consists of educational and cultural programs. Housing is guaranteed and kept at a high standard. Job safety is incredible. The coal miners in the Soviet Union are highly respected. They receive excellent pay and special consideration is given to their housing and area surrounding. The mines are equipped with safety features that can detect any danger of explosion and the mines are cleaned with water which gets almost every bit of coal dust out of the air. Coal dust causes Black Lung Disease, which is very rare in the Soviet Union. In the United States the mining conditions are terrible. Mines are low paid. Their jobs are very dangerous and Black Lung Disease is common. Often the miners have to crawl along the mine shafts on their stomachs to get to work. The Sunshine Mines in the United States are an example of unconcern of the working people. Officials knew these mines were unsafe and did nothing to make things safe. An accident billed over one hundred miners, but still mining conditions in the United States are outrageous. The Soviet Union makes heros out of the working people. The people control the government. Common working people hold government posts. Women are highly respected and their liberation is obvious. We saw a women in the Soviet film who worked in a textile mill as a weaver holding a government position. This is not uncommon. There are more women doctors in the Soviet Union than men. Women drive tractors. Women are construction workers, architects, and even astronaut The first women astronaut was a women from the Soviet Union. She now holds a government position. The Soviets suffered greatly in their struggle to bring about Socialism. World War II left the Soviet Union destroyed. Because of their determination and dedication to socialism, the Nazis were never able to take over the

Soviet Union, but 20 million Soviets were killed and millions were left homeless. The Soviets started again and built the USSR back up to what it is today. Nearly every family in the Soviet Union lost loved ones, but they still carried on. We saw a senior women in one of the films who had lost five sons in World War II. Setting up 5 year plans is how the Soviets organized to build the country. Each plan laid the foundation for the next plan. Unlike china (who also came from a feudalistic, illiterate, backward state), the Soviets want to see the rest of the world share in the building of Socialism, and they prove this in their continuous support of 3rd world liberation struggles. China is a disappointment. I hope someday they will wake up and make contributions to the Socialist world rather than go against the building of Socialism. Her agreement with Great Britain was a shock! Her 3rd world doctrine theory is ignorant! I hope the Chinese people will rise up from this ground of stupidity and join the rest of the Socialist world in the struggle against Imperialism.

Chile is a country in South America. In 1970, Salvador Allende was elected president. He was a Marxist. For three years, Chileans lived in the beauty of socialism. The United States couldn’t stand it. They were embarressed because in Chile Socialism came about through the vote rather than a revolution. All the United States propaganda trying to make Communists look like “terrorists” was shot down. In Chili, the people voted in Socialism. The CIA went to work. Workers were paid off to strike. The United States put their copper on the world market and sold it cheaper than Chili could and that was no help to Chili’s economy. The CIA flooded money into Chili the paid off the military to overthrow Allende. In 1973, the coup took place. Salvadore Allende bravely stood in the Presidential Palace in Santiago, Chili and refused to surrender. He fought the dirty fascist pigs to the end. He died defending Chili.

What an inspiration Comrade Salvador Allende is to us. The United States CIA sent Green Berets to aid in the coup. Socialists and Communists were rounded up and put in jails and concentration camps. Torture was common and still is today. Our comrades in Chili are still suffering and the fascist Pinochet who is backed by the United States. I spit on his name and Amerikkka!!! Victor Jara, the famous Chilean poet and folk singer was one of thousands who was tortured by the fascists. Victor was a Socialist. He loved the peasants and working people and wrote songs of their struggles. He traveled to the countryside working with and singing to his people. He showed his dedication to Socialism and died never selling out to the fascists even though he was brutally tortured. Victor sang to the people at the Stadium in Santiago Chili. He was rounded up and taken there along with 5000 other of his countrymen. He was told to stop singing and playing his guitar but he kept on. The fascist soldiers began to cut off his fingers. He kept on singing. They cut off his hands. He kept on singing. Then they beat him mercilessly and Victor died after several days of suffering. His last words he couldn’t even write himself but he dictated them to a comrade and they were smuggled out for those of us who care to hear. I hope that we can be involved in the overthrow of the Pinochet regime in Chili. It would be an honor! Rolando Carasco is a Chiliean who suffered greatly by the coup d’etat in Chili. He wrote Chilis Prisoners of War and I appreciate the reading of this book by Dad. I feel that consistent reminders of the suffering of others helps build sensitivity. Rolando Carasco worked at a radio station in Santiago Chili. On the day of the coup he was arrested along with other employees of the radio station. He was also at the same stadium as Victor Jara. Rolando Carasco has written a heart-breaking but eye opening account of the overthrow of President Allende and the aftermath.

EE-1-I & J-13

The military man in charge at the stadium was called “The Prince.” He was a fair-haired sick, evil fascist pig. When informed that prisoners were fainting from hunger, he took a bowl of lentil soup and paired it on the ground and said that anyone still hungry could eat it. The prisoners were only given water soup and lousy coffee and even then many didn’t even get that. He would beat the Chileans with a whip in their genitals. A 50-year-old man was sleeping with his leg stretched out and a young soldier tripped over his leg. There were 3 other soldiers and they all began to attack the fifty year old man who was unaware of what he had done to provoke their anger. However, the man grabbed for the young soldiers gun and hung on to it. “The Prince” encouraged the soldier to beat on the old man. The young soldier began beating the man with the butt of his gun until the butt broke. The 50 year old man kept struggling and died with his fists clenched. A young brave prisoner decided to leap to his death rather than suffer in the stadium. After shouting “Down with fascism, Long live President Allende,” he leaped 30 feet to his death. The viciousness of the fascist soldiers was clearly portrayed when a 9 year old boy was running up the stadium steps and he ran into a soldier. The soldier put his gun to the child’s chest and fired! Capitalists are not selective in their murdering of Socialists and Communists. They have proven this over and over again. Its not only Capitalists and Socialists and Communists but any 3rd world people. In Vietnam, 1000’s of children were napalmed – anyone suspected of being Vietcong or a Vietcong sympathizer, was a potential victim for torture. Capitalist greed has no limits! Another example of resistance during the Chilean coup was the eating of addresses on paper by the prisoners. One young man was brought inthe the building the radio station was in. He had been beaten. The soldiers threw him on the floor. He asked for water and was kicked instead. He threw up some of the paper with addresses on it that he had eaten. Nearly unconscious he put it back in this mouth – Before he died, the last word he got out was

“addresses.” The Chiliean coup was financed by the United States to the amount of over $9 million dollars. A Socialist country in South America was too close for comfort to the United States. Guyana is very brave to take the stand of being so pro-Soviet. I feel that Prime Minister Forbes Burnham’s visit to the Soviet Union and to East Germany and North Korea will only benefit Guyana.

The Red Brigade is a radical communist group that believes change comes from the barrel of a gun. They are putting this into practice. They believe that for revolution to take place that first there must be a fascist takeover for the people to realize how oppressed they are. Then revolution will result. The Red Brigade kidnapped Aldo Morro, the former Capitalist Prime Minister of Italy. The Red Brigade wanted Political Prisoners freed in exchange for Also Morro. The Capitalists tried to trick the Red Brigade on the prisoner exchange but it didn’t work and the Red Brigade got away without losing one man. In an attempt to break into a prison to free some of their comrades, one Red Brigade member was caught. He was injured and taken to a hospital – he killed himself by taking poison so the fascists could get no information from him. The Red Brigade began shooting rich businessmen and government folks in the legs. I think this is an effective tactic. How nervous these capitalist pigs must be every time they leave their house or place of business. The Red Brigade has guts and I admire them.

African countries: Mauritania, Chad, Sudan, Niger, Nigeria, Morocco, Spanish Sahara, Ivory Coast. Senegal. Algeria, Libya, Cameroon, Kenya, Ghana, Dahomey, Burundi, Uganda, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania; Zambia, Zaire, Botswana, Upper Volta, Libera, Rwanda, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Angola, and South Africa. South Africa prime minister is John Vorster. Apartheid is the oppressive system that is carried on in South Africa. It is a totally divisive system. Apartheid means to keep apart, separate. The Blacks in South Africa are 3 main racial groups – Blacks, Asians and Coloreds. Apartheid has developed a vocabulary to make it look like an official system. Bantustans are areas designated for the removal of Blacks from the cities. Only Blacks that are working are wanted in the cities. Those that can’t get

– —-

EE-1-I & J-15

jobs are removed to the Bantustans. Those removed include women, children, seniors, or sick people. Families are separated. Most of the Blacks in the Bantustans must depend on family members asking in the cities to send them money in order to survive. Each Black South African, 16 years and over must carry a Pass Book. This book contains their name, picture, address, place of work, etc. If caught without their pass book, Black South Africans are arrested. Their family may never find out about this and over they are never heard from again. The only use South Africa has for her Black population is for work – wages are extremely low – 1/20th of what whites get. The Bantustan areas are barren land. Starvation is widespread – graves for children are dug before the children die because it is known that so many will die. Blacks in South Africa must be off the streets before dark and are not allowed to gather in groups of more than 3. The Apartheid system is the most oppressive government in the world. Black South Africans are not even considered human beings. They are considered productive or non-productive. Those considered non-productive are literally thrown away and sent to live in wastelands.

The Day of the Jackal was a movie about the attempt to assassinate President Charles de Gaulle of France. The OAS was a patriotic organization that felt de Gaulle should be removed. They were extremely displeased with what had happened in Algeria. Algeria was a colony of France. The struggle for Algerian independence was a brutal battle. Many Algerians were tortured and murdered. The French even brought in troops from Vietnam in hopes of appeassing the liberation struggle. The first struggle as suppressed but the Algerian people rose again and won their independence. The OAS felt this should not have been allowed to happen because there were many French citizens living on Algeria. The OAS hired a contract killer to assasinate DeGaulle. This killer had assasinated a leader in the Dominican Republic. He used the code name Jackal, and set out to use any means possible in order to assasinate DeGaulle. He first acquired a birth certificate to get an identity by going to a graveyard and finding a baby that died very young around the time he (Jackal) was born. He stole a passport to keep in reserve. He had a special weapon made (rifle with silencer), and any murder he had to commit along the way, he simply did it. Jackal did get found out. An OAS minister was kidnapped and tortured and uttered the word “Jackal!” Jackal was informed of his cover being blown but (over)

he still went on with the asassination. He didn’t succeed, but came extremely close. His strategy can certainly be a lesson to us.

Uganda is under the dictatorship of Idi Amin, who in the past has taken no shit off anyone. The capitalist world has made a joke of him. Unfortunately he is getting friendly to the US. Algeria was under French rule, but gained their independence in the early 1960s. At one point all the revolutionary leaders were killed but the Algerians rose up again and are now a socialist country. Mozambique is a newly liberated Socialist country. Ethiopia, formerly under Italian rule, and then under the rule of King Hali Salassi, a Christian and friend of Billy Graham, is now liberated and backed by the USSR and Cuba. Tanzania was formerly under British rule, and gained their independence in the 1960’s. Tanzania is under the leadership of Julius K. Nyrere [Nyerere], a Socialist! Zaire is headed by Mobuto; a puppet of the United states. Namibia was formerly South West Africa, under the rule of South Africa. Namibia was set up with 2 puppet governments and both were asassinated. After that no one wanted the job. The liberation organization in Namibia is SWAPO (South West African Peoples Organization). Zimbabwe, was formerly Rhodesia, under the racist pig Ian Smith. The name Rhodesia comes from Cecil Rhodes, a rich diamond mine owner. Zimbabwe is the African name. The Patriotic Front is the liberation organization in Zimbabwe. Joshua Nkomo, a nationalist, and Robert Mugabe, a Marxist are the Patriotic Front leaders. Nkomo was approached in hopes he would sell out. It didn’t work. Angola is headed by Augustino Nieto. In 1973, Angola won her independence from Portugal backed by the USSR and Cuba, and with their help, the MRLA (Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola) headed the liberation struggle. Two other organizations, FNLA and UNITA were backed by the CIA and China. These organizations tried to persuade the people to be on their side. However it didn’t work and Angola is now a Socialist country.

The PNC is the Peoples National Congress, headed by Forbes Burnham, the Prime Minister of Guyana. The PNC is the party in power. The PPP is the Peoples Progressive Party, headed by Cheddi Jagan. It is the opposition party. Both parties are Marxist. Cheddi Jagan received an award from USSR for his contribution to 3rd world peace.

The WPA is the Working Peoples Alliance and is a CIA backed

party. Guyana has taken a brave stand to show a pro-Soviet stand. After what happened in Chili, any country in South America going Socialist is risking interference by the fascist USA.

I want to add that when Chili was overthrown China wouldn’t take in any Chiliean refugees, but the USSR welcomed them! China is obviously not concerned with 3rd world liberation.

Nationalisation is a situation where the government takes over a means of production. It is not Socialism. Nationalisation does not always benefit the people. Expropriation is when the means of production is taken over entirely by the people. It is a total change – Socialism.

White settlers are trying to leave South Africa and move to South America. They are nervous in South America because of the revolutionary activity. The two countries that have agreed to take these rascist settlers are Costa Rica and Uruguay. This is too close to us. These people are racists from the apartheid system in South Africa. Many were pro-Nazi and hate any people of color. We want to see South America liberated, not taken over by rascists.

Tim Stoen has hired a CIA front called the Eureka Research Association to spy on us, kidnap by sending in mercenaries. Their objective now is to kidnap or murder our Dad. Eureka Research specializes in aerial photography, and kidnapping. They are stupid to try and infiltrate Jonestown. They underestimate our willingness to die defending ourselves. This leads up to what I am willing to do for our cause. I have a real hate and disgust for the big corporations that cause the misery for millions of people the world over. I would like to blow up buildings, factories, belonging to these multi-national corporations, like Dow Chemical Corporation, United Fruit Company, Chase Manhattan Bank. I would like to see this type of operation synchronized so it happens to alot of places at the same time. I would also like to be involved in assassinations of owners of these corporations. This would require observation of their schedules, where they live. I feel the best way to do this is shooting. This would require my learning how to use weapons. I have an uneasiness about doing this and get a bit nervous thinking about it, but if it was necessary to do, I

would do it. I’m also willing to stay here in Jonestown and continue on with what I’m doing. I’m glad to be able to work with our children, however I often find teaching difficult. The paper work is tedious. I really like the children but often find myself wishing I was in a field and look behind and see the rows I planted or hoed. Teaching leaves me wondering if I’ve done an adequate job. It’s difficult but necessary and I feel a responsibility to our children. Its only because of your teaching and example Dad that I’ve come to realize this. Back to revolutionary acts, I don’t know the extent of Rick Schroeder’s part in the conspiracy, and I do have a personnel vendetta against him. I feel li could easily get close to him and snuff him out if that would be of any benefit. Alot of the traitors know me as a passive and weak female. If I could get back to the States, I feel it would be easy to convince them I had left Peoples Temple. I’d like to invite them all over for dinner and poison them.

I feel guilt for alot of the shit I pulled back in the states and all the things I didn’t do that I was capable of. I spent money on myself that was designated for needs. Once I kept an entire paycheck. I could have pamphleted more. Often I got money from relatives and didn’t turn it in. I wasted shampoo, soap, toothpaste, food, paper, and often got things I thought I needed but really didn’t. I spent my first 3 years in Peoples Temple doing nothing for the cause. I stayed home and played housewife to a fucker! If I had been strong, maybe Rick Schroeder wouldn’t have left and caused so much trouble for Dad. I let him get away with shit and never reported it. I know for sure that I’m better off than ever without Rick Schroeder, but I am to blame for alot of the shit he is doing. I’m grateful to be free of him, but guilty for not reporting him and being too passive. At one point after Rick was gone. I was told to move from Page Street for Dad’s and my protection. I got all upset and didn’t want to move and caused some hassle over this. I should have moved without question! I feel guilty that we are revolutionaries and yet we eat well, live well, I don’t suffer, when others are starving, being tortured, and yet still fight the capitalists. Its all only because of Jim Jones that we live in such beauty.

Because of this I feel I owe whatever I’m capable of to the Communist cause. I’m glad I decided to follow the communist way – thank Jim Jones for this – Debby Jensen

Undated Letter to Jim Jones from Debby Jensen Schroeder

Father:

I’ve been debating alot with myself whether or not to write this, but since I didn’t write my feelings about socialism during the siege, I shall do it now. In the states I read and heard about revolution and tried to really imagine what it was all about, but I see now and I really believe that experience is the best teacher. I really didn’t think I could come to Jonestown and relax the rest of my life, but I also didn’t expect to get a taste of revolution right here. I have felt that I would learn to fight and learn socialism better and then go on to help others in the struggle. Through your example and teachings I feel I am a revolutionary. I’ve come to realize that service to others is the only way I feel that my existence is justified. I still have never suffered. I feel guilty that I, as a middle class white haven’t suffered. I owe it to the suffering of others to help bring communism to all people. Father you have brought me this far, and I am so grateful to be a revolutionary, even though I still have much to learn and much to overcome. Thank you for the greatest revolutionary ever. Thank you for giving our children this opportunity. As I sat on the battle line father expecting to die, I was surprised to feel so calm. The time I had spent with this cause made dying okay. Now I hope to be of more benefit to socialism/communism.
