Hattie Newell became a member of Peoples Temple in 1973, and her family joined later. She was in the San Francisco Temple on November 18, 1978, but twelve members of her family died in Jonestown. She was a Counselor and did security duty for Marceline, Jim Jones’ wife, on a couple of occasions.
