Referenced Washington field teletype dated November 21, 1978, no copy to Atlanta, reported results of investigation at Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Washington, D.C. (WDC). FCC had monitored ham radio transmissions of the Peoples Temple between Guyana and San Francisco. Tapes of recordings made by FCC are available at their monitoring

plant at powder Springs, Georgia. A letter from FBI or subpoena is necessary for FBI to obtain these tapes.
The bureau has advised that these tapes should be obtained as soon as possible. Any letter required by FCC should issue from Special Agent in Charge, Atlanta.

Lead. Atlanta. At Powder Springs, Georgia. Immediately contact FCC and obtain these tapes. Transcripts of these recordings should be prepared and forwarded to Bureau and San Francisco. In the case where a possible code is utilized should be sent to FBI laboratory for cryptanalysis.
