Bureau and San Francisco have advised that [deleted name] [Tim Reiterman] will return to San Francisco, California, with his father, [deleted name] and brother [deleted name] via United Airline flight 57 departing Dulles International Airport 5:45 P.M. Eastern standard Time November 22, 1978, and arriving at San Francisco

8:35 PM, Pacific Coast time. Upon arrival [deleted name] will reside at [deleted address] telephone number [deleted number].

[deleted name] [Carol Boyd] and her husband [deleted name] will return this date to San Francisco area via Transworld Airline flight 63 departing Dulles International Airport 5:30 PM, Eastern Standard Time and arriving San Francisco at 8:10 PM, Pacific Coast time. The [deleted name] are traveling under the name Mr. and Mrs. [deleted name] and upon arriving in San Francisco will reside with [deleted name] at Hillsboro [Hillsborough], California, telephone number [deleted number]. [deleted name] and [deleted name] are extremely fearful of retaliation by California members of the People’s Temple.

Mrs. [Boyd] has furnished Baltimore with the tape-recorded interview made in Guyana and one roll of Kodak Vericolor II professional film number 5025 type S, which will be forwarded to FBI Photo Unit for processing. Above-mentioned tape was made at approximately 12:30 PM, Saturday, November 18, 1978, contains interviews with [deleted information] People’s Temple members of the [Johnstown] Jonestown settlement.

Ronald A. Javers, reporter, San Francisco Chronicle, was operated on November 21, 1978, at Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews Air Force Base and a projectile, believed to be .22 caliber, was removed from his shoulder and turned over to Bureau agent by attending surgeon and will be forwarded to FBI laboratory. [deleted name] currently unavailable for contact due to post operative sedation.

Interview with [deleted name] [Jackie Speier] aide to Congressman Ryan, has been brief and fragmented due to her extensive injuries. However, it has been learned that Congressman Ryan’s briefcase contained documents pertaining to his investigation of the People’s Temple and also tape recordings of declarations from People’s Temple members stating their desire to leave the Jonestown settlement. Miss [Speier] was unable to account for where also briefcase; however, [deleted name] [Mrs. [Beverly] Oliver] has advised briefcase in possession of Richard Dwyer, Deputy Chief of the United States Embassy, Guyana.

[Oliver] also advised that she saw Tim Carter in San Francisco two to three days prior to her and Congressman’s

Ryan’s departure from Guyana. Carter had indicated that he had defected from Jim Jones and the People’s Temple settlement in Johnstown. However, [Oliver] advised that upon arrival at Jonestown she was surprised to see that Carter was back there. [Oliver] advised that she had learned from Al and Jean Mills, former members of the People’s Temple, now residing in Berkeley, California, that Carter had been asking them about Congressman Ryan’s trip and his flight itinerary. [Oliver] stated that the Mills had apparently been to Carter’s California apartment and it did not look like he was back there for good.

On November 22, 1978, a cassette tape recording was obtained by Baltimore field office from [name and address deleted], Silver Spring, Maryland. This tape contains him radio conversations picked up on [deleted call letters] radio receiver during the late part of August, early September, 1977. Above conversation believed to be Jim Jones transmitting from WB6MID/8R3 Peoples Temple Agriculture Mission, Jonestown, Guyana, to WA6BTJ, which radio call letters are assigned to

to Benjamin Bauers [Bowers], Redwood Valley, California.

Contents of tape will be furnished to FBI headquarters and San Francisco.
