Did Jim Jones ever make commercial recordings of his sermons?

No. While Jones recorded hundreds of his sermons on tape, they were made for his followers and were never pressed into records for commercial sale or distribution.

There are several record albums that appear periodically on Ebay, purporting to be a record made the “cult leader,” including one entitled Messages for the Total Man. Some of the recordings also appear on Youtube, such as one of the Messages for the Total Man, with comments reflecting – mainly critically – upon Peoples Temple. But listening to two minutes of these Youtube renditions and comparing them to two minutes of any of Jim Jones’ sermons will serve to remind anyone that “Jim Jones” is a common name, even among other Christian preachers.

The only record made by Peoples Temple was He’s Able, a collection of 12 songs performed by the Temple choir.
