On November 28, 1978, [name deleted], white female, date of birth [deleted], and her sister, [name deleted], white female, date of birth [deleted], were interviewed at their residence [address deleted], Taylor, Michigan. Interviewees advised that they moved from Miami, Arizona, to Seattle, Washington, in November 1970, and joined the People’s Temple in November 1971, after having met Jimmy Jones during a crusade in Seattle.

In July, 1972, interviewees moved to Redwood [Valley], California, into a house owned by the People’s Temple.
In August, 1972, interviewees moved into a commune where they attended meetings of the People’s Temple.
In January, 1973, interviewees moved to Globe, Arizona, where they remained until November, 1974, when they were granted permission by Jones to return to California. During this period of time interviewees contributed financially to the People’s Temple church.
In February, 1975, interviewees moved to a commune in San Francisco, where they witnessed beatings of fellow church members, who had committed some violation of Jones’ orders. At this time interviewees became aware of armed security guards whom Jones referred to has [as] “my private army”.
At this time interviewees attended church meetings in Los Angeles on the weekend and advised that all monies collected were taken into “the Gold Room” inside the church. Interviewees advised that the reason why they were required to move from San Diego to San Francisco was to prepare them

for their conventional trip to Guyana, which Jones referred to as “a place of safety from oppression”.
Interviewees were unaware of any direct threat against anyone’s life by the People’s Temple or Jones, but were aware that Jones had an intense dislike for former President Richard M. Nixon. Jones advised the interviewees on several occasions that he had contacts anywhere in the world, including the White House, CIA and FBI, who were furnishing him information.
Interviewees advised that California Governor Jerry Brown and San Francisco Mayor [George] Moscone had visited the People’s Temple for a meeting which was staged for their benefit.
Interviewees advised that all general meetings were tape-recorded and that [name deleted] husband, [name deleted] recorded several of these meetings himself.
Meetings with Jones and his councilmen were hand recorded.
In February, 1976, interviewees left the People’s Temple due to their disillusionment with Jones and his

teachings. Jones advised he would give them permission to leave but anything of value must remain behind.
[name deleted] husband, [name deleted] remained behind in the People’s Temple in San Francisco and was last contacted on August 3, 1978, by telephone.
[name deleted] husband, [name deleted] became disenchanted with the People’s Temple and left in late 1972 and has never been seen again. Subsequently, [name deleted] enjoyed a common-law relationship with Darell Keller, [information deleted]. In February, 1978, [name deleted] last saw Keller at the People’s Temple, San Diego, prior to his departure for Guyana. [name deleted] advised that Keller’s father has been to Dover, Delaware, and tentatively identified one of the bodies as that of his son.
Both interviewees advised that since their departure from the People’s Temple they have not received any threats against their lives.
