Re Washington Field teletype to Bureau, November 28, 1978.

Review of letters received by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was completed by Washington Field on November 29, 1978. A list of writers with addresses if available will be forwarded the San Francisco Division and Bureau under separate cover when transcribed.

Washington Field has also obtained copies of State Department cables with the Consul in Georgetown, Guyana: One of the cables dated August 28, 1977, refers to a telephone call from a private investigator Joseph Mazor

[Name withheld] who said he was retained by parents of children who were taken to the Peoples Temple in Guyana. Mazor claimed to have court orders for return of these children. The children named were Mark Sly, Vincent Lopez, Duane and John [Bruce and William] Oliver and the 3 Cobb children.

At the request of the Bureau, [Name withheld] was interviewed at Federal Bureau of Investigation Headquarters (FBI HQ), November 30, 1978, and inquired if [Name withheld] had been identified and as to the safety of returning to his home in California. [Name withheld] said he and [Name withheld] will be departing Dulles Airport via Trans World Airlines flight 63 at 5:30 P.M., and arriving San Francisco 8:10 P.M. They will be traveling under the name of [Name withheld]. [Name withheld] plans to spend the night at the residence of [Name withheld], Palo Alto, California, and the following day return to his home. [Name withheld] was advised to contact the San Francisco Division and furnish his home address and telephone number together with his itinerary. [Name withheld] has talked on

the telephone on one occasion with Mazor, whom he views as an opportunist.

According to one of the survivors, Vernon Gosney, of the airport incident, who is hospitalized at San Juan, Mazor came to Jonestown about three months ago and Jones paid Mazor $5,000.00 to tell an assembly in Jonestown that the FBI, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and other government agencies are part of a conspiracy against the PT and he had been hired by the Committee of Concerned Relatives to kidnap members of the PT in Jonestown and hire mercenaries to kill the others.

[Name withheld], Congressman Ryan’s office, advised November 30, 1978, that [Name withheld] has the complete list of relatives accompanied Ryan on the trip to Guyana and will be returning to Washington, D.C. (WDC), on Monday, December 4, 1978. [Name withheld] is not aware of any

planned trips by Congressman Ryan or other representatives or staff members to Jonestown in September 1977. [Name withheld] may be able to furnish other information.
