Subject: RYMUR

On 12/1/78, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Mr. [name deleted] appeared at FBI HQ to obtain a copy of Congressman Leo Ryan’s autopsy report and death certificate. Release of these documents had been previously approved. Mr. [name deleted] is a member of Congressman Ryan’s Office Staff, 137 Cannon House Office Building, Washington D.C., telephone number 225-3532. Mr. [name deleted] resides at [address deleted], Falls Church, Virginia. He was asked for and displayed his current Virginia drivers license as identification.

Mr. [name deleted] said he would make inquiries among other members of Congressman Ryan’s staff as to the location of Ryan’s briefcase, which Ryan had taken to Guyana. It was explained to Mr. [name deleted] that the FBI wishes to review the contents of Ryan’s briefcase for any information of value to the captioned investigation. Mr. [name deleted] said he would probably contact the Command Post, FBI HQ, if he learns who is holding the briefcase.
