On December 5, 1978, the exact location of the People’s Temple was discovered in Los Angeles at 4807 South Western Avenue.
Local merchants were not aware of the People’s Temple being in the area. Activity was observed at the rear of 4807 South Western. A U-Haul truck was backed into the rear of 4807 South Western, and a male Negro approximately thirty years, 5’10”, 200 pounds, was observed loading chairs and miscellaneous items onto the U-Haul truck. This truck bore Georgia license JA2 743 on the rear and Oklahoma plate 8E1616 on the front.
The Negro male was stopped by the agent and an

interview was attempted. The male advised that this was the People’s Temple, and that he was a member. He advised his attorney had advised him not to submit to an interview. He was asked his name, which he stated was Hugh Forson [Hue Fortson]. The male Negro would not provide further information.
