For the information of the Bureau and Alexandria, Karen Jacqueline Speier, white female, DOB [deleted], aide to slain Congressman Leo Ryan, who was wounded in attack on Ryan’s party in Guyana, was transferred from Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services to Arlington Hospital, Arlington, Virginia, November 30, 1978.
Speier will be under the care of Dr. [name deleted] telephone number [deleted] and will remain in Arlington Hospital for approximately one month. She is expected to undergo [information deleted] for gunshot wounds of the right

forearm and thigh. A single bullet remains [information deleted] but no decision has been made to date whether to risk removal.
Alexandria will immediately establish liaison with Dr. [name deleted] and local police to ensure adequate security for Speier in view of alleged threats by Peoples’ Temple against unidentified public officials.
