Memorandum
Date: 11/30/78
To: Mr. Moore
From: J. O. Ingram

Subject: RYMUR

On 11/27/78, Mike Abbel, Departmental Attorney, U.S. Department of Justice, advised that Terry Fortune, Legal Counsel, U.S. State Department, was traveling to Guyana on 11/28/78 to meet with officials of Guyana in an effort to plead the cause in allowing the FBI to enter Guyana in connection with the Rymur case. Fortune will attempt to seek approval from the government for the release of tape recordings and other documents found at Jonestown, Guyana. Fortune has indicated that if arrangements cannot be made for the release he would appreciate if the FBI could make available to him a tape recorder and he would tape-record tapes presently in possession.

Contact with Technical Services Condition (TSD) was made and arrangements were made to have Terry Fortune of the State Department come to FBI HQ on the morning of 11/28/78 and be outfitted with a tape recorder for his utilization in reproducing tapes and subsequent return to FBI HQ. Steve Killion, TSD, handled this matter personally with Fortune.
