Re Bureau telcall to Houston Supervisor [name deleted], November 30, 1978.

Re Bureau telcall requested Houston to obtain written permission from Schacht family in Houston to perform autopsy on their son Dr. Larry Schacht.

On November 27, 1978, David Berg, attorney for Schacht family in Houston, telephonically advised Houston FBI that the Schacht family was in New York. Berg stated he was not sure if the Schacht family was amenable to interview but he would contact them and advise Houston FBI. Berg recontacted Houston FBI, November 28, 1978,

and left number requesting recontact. This number was called, Berg not in, message left for him to return call to Houston, FBI.

On November 30, 1978, Berg called Houston FBI and was advised that written permission was requested from the Schacht family to perform autopsy on their son.

Berg stated he would contact them and advise Houston FBI. Berg also requested a written set of questions for Schacht family to answer as opposed to personal interview. Berg was advised this would not be appropriate due to the scope and probable length and specifics required in the interview. To date, December 1, 1978, and time 12:05 PM, Berg has not recontacted the Houston, FBI.

Investigation continuing at Houston to interview members of Schacht family.

Berg appears to be less than cooperative in this matter and San Francisco should consider possibility of obtaining subpoenas for Schacht family.

Armed and dangerous – suicidal tendencies.
