Re San Francisco teletype to Bureau, December 1, 1978, asking New York Office to contact owners of the vessel “Eileen” operating ham radio call signed K 42 P.

[Name deleted] Hawaiian Eileen Corp., 17 Battery Place, New York City, telephone no. 425-3877, advised Eileen is bulk and sugar container, purchased October 12, 1978 from Matson Navigation Co., 100 Mission St., San Francisco, California. From the date of purchase to present Eileen in Pacific (Korea and Japan), due San Francisco December 10, 1978. Captain George White is in charge. The ship does not

have a ham radio. It only has a ship radio-telephone.

[Name deleted] further advised Eileen’s radio call signal is KPZP, not K 42 P as set out in referenced San Francisco teletype. Tampa, which originated the lead, advised that teletype to Washington Field Office, dated November 24, 1978, listed the signal as K 42 P.

New York Office believes KPZP is not the radio call signal in question and Eileen may not be vessel in contact with PT.

Washington Field, at Washington, DC, determined through FCC the registrant for radio call sign KPZP and advise field office where registrant located to determine frequency and extent of radio contacts with PT in Guyana and knowledge of conditions which existed there prior to and during Congressman Ryan’s inspection.
