Reference New Rochelle teletype concerning [information deleted] dated December 7, 1978.

[Name deleted] should be interviewed regarding any knowledge he has concerning the assassination of Congressman Leo J. Ryan and any conspiracy whether in the Guyana or the United States regarding the Congressman’s murder. [Name deleted] should be specifically questioned about his involvement, if any, in the Peoples Temple church. The questioning should cover whether [Name deleted] furnished drugs of any type to the Peoples Temple in Georgetown, Guyana.

The information in retel has been furnished to Drug Enforcement Agency headquarters. Information in retel concerning

U.S. Army helicopter pilots who have in their personal possession Reverend Jim Jones’ papers has been furnished to the Pentagon for action.

Note:

Above teletype instructs New Rochelle resident agency to interview [Name and address deleted], Westchester County, New York. The interview is predicated upon information received from [name and affiliation deleted] (protect identity) who advised on 12/6/78 that information from a news media indicated [name deleted] furnished the cyanide used in the mass suicide at Jonestown, Guyana.

On the basis of [name deleted] information, New Rochelle had previously been instructed to fully identify [name deleted] and interview him regarding the assassination of Congressman Ryan.

In retel, New York advised that [name deleted] was the subject of a recent TFIS case involving the questionable sale of drugs to Georgetown, Guyana hospital facility under fraudulent circumstances. The drugs were purchased for legal medical purposes in Guyana, however the majority of drugs were diverted for domestic use. Prosecution was dismissed in this case. [name deleted] was never indicted. In retel, New Rochelle advises of contact with [name and address deleted] (protect identity) who alleges that drugs in Guyana came from Westchester, New York, and that a yacht named Valhalla was used to transport drugs to Guyana. [name deleted] was alleged that U.S. Army helicopter pilots station [stationed] in Panama, who was assigned to handle clean-up operation in Jonestown, Guyana, apparently obtained personal papers which they are holding until “the price is right.” This information was furnished military authorities for investigation. Other information furnished by [name deleted] concerning narcotics was furnished to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
