internship, but went directly to Guyana upon completion of his schooling.

On December 1, 1978, Charles Garry, attorney, San Francisco, California, stated he had met Larry Schacht when visiting Jonestown, South America. Garry advised that Schacht had no medical assistance as such, but that there were many nurses in the compound. Garry stated Schacht’s father resided in Houston and on this date he had been notified telephonically by an attorney for the Schacht family in Houston. Garry advised this attorney (Garry did not afford the name of this attorney) recommended the Schacht family allow the FBI to interview them and that they should be as open and candid as possible with the FBI.

Garry advised that his understanding was that Schacht began his medical degree at a university in Guadalajara, Mexico, and he transferred to University of California for completion of this degree. Garry proceeded at this point to telephone the People’s Temple here in San Francisco and speak to People’s Temple member James Randolph, who advised Garry that Schacht had completed his degree at the University
