Regarding information furnished by [name and identification deleted], New West Magazine.

On December 6, 1978, [name deleted] (protect) [information deleted], acknowledged he was co-author with [name deleted] of an article entitled [2 lines deleted].

[name deleted] furnished the following information only on the condition that his identity be protected and no organization or individual outside of the FBI be told that

he has furnished the following:

There is no hit list or list that he knows of against reporters or any individuals selected by members of the People’s Temple. [name deleted] did not intend to infer or state in the article that there was a hit list out for reporters . [name deleted] is aware that there was a list of nine reporters made up by members of the People’s Temple that members of the People’s Temple felt were worthy of checking into. The following are the reporters who were on this list:

Tim Reiterman, San Francisco Examiner newspaper; Marshall Kilduff, San Francisco Chronicle newspaper; George Kleiman [Klineman], Santa Rosa Press newspaper; Steve Hart, Santa Rosa Press newspaper; Caroline [Carolyn] Pickering, Indianapolis Star newspaper; Larry Hatfield, San Francisco Examiner newspaper; Jim Clancey, KTVU-TV, Oakland; Phil Tracy, New West magazine, and Cahill Maloney, San Francisco Progress newspaper.
