For the information of offices not included in referenced Los Angeles teletype, search warrant served at Enola M. Nelson

Realty, 3840 Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. This search warrant was based on District Attorney’s case involving Jim Jones and Jim McElvane, reportedly past head of Peoples Temple in Los Angeles. District Attorney case was of an extortion nature wherein persons had been forced to sell their property and give money to the Peoples Temple.

During search, a hoax device was located consisting of two D cell batteries, approximately 3 1/2-inch by 1 1/2 inch galvanized pipe, threaded at both ends but no end caps, ends being taped over with black electrical tape, one Westclox alarm clock, white face with black letters, with wires running from battery to clock to pipe. A copy of the Anarchist Cookbook was also located.

The Los Angeles Police Department has been contacted and they have not conducted any rate on the Peoples Temple. Press release in referenced Washington Field Office teletype was based on Los Angeles Police Department responding to check out the above described device. Los Angeles Division is aware of no bombing plans on the part of the Peoples Temple.
