Subject: RYMUR

PURPOSE: To show results of contact with FBI HQ by Army Criminal Investigative Division (CID) concerning this.

RECOMMENDATIONS: None. For information.

DETAILS: At 10 AM, 12/15/78, Captain Jeff Bown, U. S. Army, Corps of Military Police, CID, telephone number 756-1357, advised that the Army had conducted interviews with military personnel in Panama, at Fort Bragg, Carolina, and Fort Benning, Georgia. The Army personnel interviewed were those who participated in the body recovery at Jonestown. All of these individuals had various items they had taken from Jonestown including cassette tapes, blank checks, crossbows and various personal items. These items are being collected and will be forwarded to FBI HQ for evaluation and necessary action.

Captain Bown was advised that at least 15 U.S. Air Force personnel were present at Jonestown, and he is contacting Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) to conduct the same type interviews that CID conducted. Captain Bown advised a teletype containing full details of the military action will be furnished to us today. He further advised that the Army will make full reports of investigation concerning the pilferage conducted by U.S. Military personnel and that Court Martial action would be undertaken.
