Departmental Attorney Michael Abbell advised that the December 8, 1978, New York Times indicated in an article that Guyanese Police Commissioner Backer [Barker] stated that United States and Guyanese currency in the amount of $2,500,000 was found in a chicken coop at Jonestown. This money allegedly includes the $500,000 recovered in the suitcase and an additional $2 million from the chicken coop. Legat advise if the newspaper article reporting the recovery is accurate and from where currency was recovered. Sutel.
