1. FONMIN WILLS [Guyana Foreign Minister Fred Wills] INFORMED CHARGE ON SEPTEMBER 21 THAT IN RESPONSE TO OUR NOTE REPORTED REFTEL GOG HAS DECIDED TO ACT ON COURT ORDERS ISSUED SEPTEMBER 10. NEXT HEARING IS NOW SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 1977. INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN LOCAL ATTORNEY LIONEL LUCKHOO HAS BEEN RETAINED TO REPRESENT JIM JONES OF PEOPLE’S TEMPLE. WILLS TOLD CHARGE THAT LUCKHOO PLANS TO CHALLENGE LEGALITY OF COURT SUMMONS REQUIRING JONES TO APPEAR AND SHOW CAUSE WHY HE SHOULD NOT BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OF COURT. LUCKHOO IS ALSO EXPECTED TO REQUEST WHETHER US ATTORNEY HAAS HAS PROPER CREDENTIALS TO ACT IN THIS MATTER.
