1. REPORTER RON JAVERS ARRIVED GOERGETOWN VIA PA 227 AT 0030 NOVEMBER 15 WITHOUT VISA AND CARRYING A SUM OF GUYANESE CURRENCY. BECAUSE OF THE ABSENCE OF VISA AND PRESENCE OF A SIGNIFICANT SUM OF LOCAL CURRENCY IN HIS POSSESSION, HE WAS DETAINED AT THE AIRPORT. IMMIGRATION INFORMED HIM THAT HE WOULD BE OBLIGED TO LEAVE ON PA228 AT 1:00 P.M. NOV. 15.

2. AMBASSADOR CONTACTED MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AT 0815 ON NOV. 15 ON BEHALF OF JAVERS. THE FOREIGN MINISTER SAID THAT JAVERS’ APPLICATION FOR A VISA SUBMITTED TO GUYANESE EMBASSY IN WASHINGTON WAS STILL PENDING AND THAT JAVERS HAD INFORMED THE EMBASSY OF GUYANA THAT HE INTENDED TO TRAVEL TO GUYANA WITH OR WITHOUT THE VISA. NEVERTHELESS, FOREIGN MINISTER WILL SEE WHAT NEED BE DONE TO ASSIST HIS ENTRY.
