1. Judge has still not ruled on motions before court that were reported in Reftel B.

2. Jim Jones told Consul during a conversation on January 11 that he intends to appeal any decision of the court returning John Stoen to Grace and Timothy Stoen. Jones told Consul he is the natural father of John Stoen and can prove it. People’s Temple representatives in meeting with Consul on January 16 showed him a photocopy of an affidavit allegedly signed by Timothy Stoen in San Francisco stating that Jim Jones is the natural father of John Stoen. Presumably Jones’ local attorney will present this evidence to the court if judgment favoring the Stoens is rendered. In earlier meetings with Consul, Grace and Timothy Stoen, alluding to Jones’ paternity claim, have strongly denied that Jim Jones is the natural father of John Stoen.

3. Since judge has delayed his decision on the motions before him, Grace Stoen departed Guyana on January 18. She plans to return for the next hearing. Timothy Stoen is still in Guyana and plans to leave on January 20. His visa was renewed for an additional week as is normal GOG procedure. Stoen told Consul that official at Ministry of Home Affairs had indicated to him at time of visit renewal that ministry would permit additional renewals for as long as the case was pending. Stoen was leaving at this time for business reasons and planned to return for next hearing.
