1. DEPARTMENT WOULD APPRECIATE SOONEST (A) AN INVENTORY OF ALL U.S. TREASURY CHECKS IN EMBASSY’S CSTODY ARRANGED ALPHABETICALLY BY NAME, SHOWING AMOUNT. SUGGEST INVENTORY BE GROUPED BY PAYING AGENCY (VA, SSA, CSC,ETC.). EACH TYPE(B) SHOULD INDICATE ACCOUNT NUMBER INCLUDING ALPHABETIC SUFFIXES OR PREFIXES, AGENCY DESIGNATOR, CHECK SYMBOL AND TYPE. (B) EMBASSY SHOULD SEND BY CABLE A SEPARATE INVENTORY OF NON-FEDERAL CHECKS OR OTHER INSTRUMENTS ARRANGED

ALPHABETICALLY BY PAYEE, INDICATING AMOUNT AND PAYOR. PRIORITY SHOULD BE GIVEN INVENTORY OF TREASURY CHECKS.

2. THEREAFTER, EMBASSY SHOULD IMMEDIATELY PREPARE AND TRANSMIT COPIES OF BOTH SIDES OF ALL ITEMS INCLUDED IN INVENTORIES (A)AND(B) TO CA/SCS FEDERAL BENEFITS UNIT, ROOM 4811 NEW STATE. COPIES SHOULD BE ARRANGED ACCORDANCE PARA ONE.

3. TREASURY CHECKS WHICH HAVE NOT BEEN CLAIMED, ARE UNDELIVERED AND UNENDORSED SHOULD BE DISPOSED OF IN ACCORDANCE 7 FAM 251.7. EMBASSY SHOULD FURNISH DEPARTMENT SEPARATE LIST OF CHECKS DISPOSED OF PER 7 FAM 251.7. EMBASSY SHOULD RETAIN ALL OTHER CHECKS, INCLUDING ENDORSED TREASURY CHECKS, UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE DEPARTMENT PROVIDES FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. THE INFO WHICH WE HAVE REQUESTED PARA ONE AND TWO WILL ASSIST US IN THIS REGARD.
