[Name deleted] [Sharla Evans], a seven-year-old black female, was interviewed upon her arrival at the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFKIA) from Jonestown, Guyana. After being apprised of the identity of the interviewing agent and Special Agent (SA) [name deleted] of the United States Secret Service who was present during the interview, [Evans] provided the following information:

Discipline of Jonestown was known as “PSU”, which was the Public Service Union [Unit]. [Evans] was once placed on PSU and she had cut grass for three days with a cutlass, even when she developed diarrhea. [Evans] was placed on PSU because she was accused of slapping another girl, Tratrice Auduberry [Traytease Arterberry].

[Evans advised] that some of her teachers at Jonestown were Christine Luseantus (ph) [Lucientes], a white female, young, short with blonde hair, a female referred to as “C” (possibly Curlstyle (ph), Ronda [Rhonda] Page, and Denise La Quinta (ph). Page and :a Quinta taught socialism. [Evans] believed Luseantus was dead.

[Evans] resided in Cottage [number deleted] with a group of youngsters and four supervisors, Scott Thomas, Linda Thomas, Corliss Butay (ph) [Corlis Boutte] and Mark Butay [Boutte]. [Evans] did not live with her parents, but they could see each other when they wished. [2 lines deleted] also worked at the Senior Center.

[Evans] noted that members of the Security Force at Jonestown were the two “Tims”, one black and one white and Johnny Cobb. [Evans] never heard the term “Angels.” [Evans] stated that weapons at Jonestown were kept in Cottage 14 and Johnny Cobb Jones had the key. [Evans] once went to Cottage 14 with her Aunt [name deleted] [Yvette Muldrow Jones] (her mother’s sister) and [Evans] saw guns there. [Evans] recalled that members of the Security Force poked the seniors at Jonestown with their weapons to wake them up if they fell asleep in meetings. Some of the members of the Security Force were also on the basketball team.

Regarding her escape from Jonestown, [Evans] stated that her parents said they were going to the “Piggery,” the place where animals were kept, and escape through the bush. [Evans] recalled hearing gunfire while in the bush. [Evans] saw the following individuals in the bush:

Edith Parks, Dale Parks, Tracy Parks (a little girl), Jerry Parks, Stanley Kleeton (ph) [Clayton], Richard Clark, Leslie Wilson, Jakary [Jakari] Wilson (ph), Odell Rodes [Rhodes], Johnny Franklin, Robert Paul and Diane Louie.

House-West was where Evette, Eva and Stephanie Jones resided. House-East was Jim Jones’ house. Jones lived alone and told people he was ill. [Evans] thought Jones was Indian. Jones had a gun at meetings.

During an “alert”, everyone was required to go to the Pavilion and hide under tables. Jones called alerts by using the intercom system.

[Evans] stated that “suicide” was when you were sent into the bush. [Evans] recalled that Kay Rosa [Rosas] was sent into the bush and a tiger bit her face. When suicide was discussed at meetings, [Evans] was asleep. She thought, however, that suicide meant being disobedient to Jones.

Regarding the visit to Jonestown by Congressman Leo Ryan, [Evans] stated that Jones’ daughter accompanied Ryan around the camp because she was turning against Jones. [Evans] believes that Joan’s daughter resides in the United States.

[Evans] noted that her parents had a little money in Guyana that her grandmother had sent them from the United States.

[Evans] stated that the bosses at Jonestown were Jim Jones, Christine Luseantus (ph), Eva Jones, Judy Arnes or Irons (ph) [Ijames]. Jones’ bodyguards were Dale Parks and [2 names deleted] helped to protect Jones at meetings.

[Evans] noted that grown-ups were also assigned to PSU where they had to wash floors, cut grass, and cleaned Jones’ house. When one was good, one was given special treats such as fudge, cake and cookies. Punch was distributed at special dinners, not at alerts.

When asked if she had never seen anyone killed at Jonestown, [Evans] replied that she had not. She stated, however, that she had heard that Jim Jones had killed his mother, Vanetta [Lynetta], because she was smoking. [Evans] observed the grave where Jones’ mother was buried.

Regarding Jim Cobb, [Evans] advised that his real name is Jimmie Jones. Cobb is a black male, tall, who lived in Jonestown and [Evans] believed he could be trying to escape. [1 line

[Evans] stated that she heard her parents talk about injections. [Evans]’ parents stated that when people of Jonestown were given injections, they went to sleep and never woke up again.

Regarding the manufacture of dolls, [Evans] stated that they were made at Jonestown by Mary Griffith and the latter stated that they were to be sold.

[Evans] provided the following information regarding the below noted individuals:

Steve [Stephan] Jones: Jim Jones’ son; Did as he pleased; Not on Security Force; On basketball team; white male.

[Evans] did not know her date of birth, and she believed she was born in San Francisco. [Evans] will be staying with her grandmother, [name deleted] in San Francisco.
