James Schollaert, HIRC [House International Relations Committee], advised on May 9, 1979, he received the briefcase of Ryan from DCM Dwyer [Deputy Chief of Mission Richard Dwyer] in Dwyer’s office prior to leaving Georgetown with the body of Ryan. Dwyer told him he had used the briefcase as a repository for valuables of the deceased, and during the night of the airstrip murders or the following day, some of the valuables in the briefcase were stolen. He recalls Dwyer opened the briefcase and they went through the contents but did not make an inventory. He took the briefcase from Guyana and turned it over to Joe Holsinger in San Francisco. He did not open the briefcase. He does not know who has the tapes or what
