Remarks: For information of Miami, due to the large volume of tape recordings received in this matter, no enhancement examinations are being conducted except in exceptional circumstances. Additionally, the interference and distortion present on the radio transmissions are not generally amenable to enhancement.

One copy of Q834 has been submitted to the Technical Evaluation Unit of the FBI Laboratory for such examination as they deem appropriate.

Specimens received:

Q 834 One Scotch C-90 magnetic tape cassette labeled in part “Original”.
Q 835 One magnetic tape cassette labeled in part “Jim Jones”.

Results of examination:

Two direct copies were made of Q834 on 5-inch reels of .25-inch magnetic tape at recording speed of 3 3/4 inches per second in a full-track configuration. Each copy consisted of two reels.

Inasmuch as Q835 was stated to be a copy of Q834, no examination was conducted of this specimen.

One direct copy of Q834 was hand delivered to the Document Section of the FBI Laboratory on 5/22/79.

One direct copy of Q834 is being forwarded to the San Francisco Office under separate cover via registered mail.

Q834 and Q835 are being returned to the Miami Office under separate cover via registered mail.
