Reflections and Articles by Vera Washington

Vera (Inghram) Washington was a member of Peoples Temple for several years but left in 1973 because of conflicts she had with the leadership of the group. She entered the Temple with high hopes of being a part of a productive movement that would make a positive impact on the lives of ordinary people like her but came away with a feeling of aborted dreams and disillusionment. As Vera reflects, “The best part was the incredible people that I met and shared the same dreams and lived with and loved. It was a journey that I will always remember and cherish.” She can be reached at reginav8@yahoo.com.
