Subject: RYMUR
TRANSPORTATION OF JONESTOWN SURVIVORS

PURPOSE: To advise of the relay of the message from Legat Caracas, through the Department of State (DOS) to the effect that one or more flights of totaling approximately 24 Jonestown survivors will arrive at Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina, on 11/23/78.

SYNOPSIS & DETAILS: At 7:25 a.m. Miss [name deleted], DOS, telephonically advised SA [Special Agent] [name deleted] 12:00 – 8: 00 a.m. Duty Agent, that she had been requested to relay a message from Robert Oglesby, Legat Caracas, to the effect that 24 Jonestown survivors would arrive at Charleston Air Force Base, North Carolina, on 11/23/78. She had no further specifics.

Colonel Robert Ramsey, in the same telephone conversation, indicated that the military was anxious to dispose of the Jonestown survivors as soon as possible upon arrival at Charleston, consistent with the FBI’s investigative needs and HEW arrangements for lodging.
